User Selects Free Wi-Fi: When a user enters the venue, their device (smartphone, laptop, tablet) detects and displays the available WiFi networks. They select the free WiFi network provided by your venue.
Automatic Redirection: Upon attempting to access any website or internet service, the user’s device is automatically redirected to Fydelia’s captive portal splash page. This redirection is facilitated by the underlying network hardware (router, access point) which is configured to intercept initial connection attempts. Our captive portal software layer, running on top of this hardware infrastructure, detects the incoming connection and serves the pre-designed splash page to the user.
Splash Page Presentation: The user sees your branded splash page in their browser. This page informs them about the free WiFi access and presents a form requesting their details.
User Input & Email Capture: The user fills out the required fields in the form. Upon submitting the form, the data is securely transmitted from their browser to our system. We extract the email address provided by the user and store it.
Access Grant: After successful submission of their details, Fydelia authenticates the user. We communicate with the underlying network hardware to grant the user’s device access to the internet.
Data Association: We further associate the captured email address (and other submitted data) with the user’s device. This allows for potential tracking of user behavior within the WiFi network.
Continued Access: The user can now enjoy the free WiFi access. In the background, their email address remains stored within our system for future marketing, communication, or analytics purposes, as per your privacy policy and applicable regulations.
